Online Stores/eCommerce

Traditionally eCommerce referred to platforms such as Ebay, Etsy and Amazon however as the internet evolved, so too has the use of eCommerce in the buying and selling of goods or services over the internet including transactions via websites, apps, or other digital platforms. Most people think of eCommerce as only online stores however, in reality, if you are selling your services i.e. graphic designer, accountant, therapist - you are in the business of eCommerce as people transact with you via the internet.

Some examples of eCommerce:

  1. Physical products: Customers browse products or services on your online store, add items to their virtual shopping cart, and make purchases using electronic payments (like credit cards, PayPal, or other online payment systems).
  2. Digital Products: Setting up an online store attached to your services website is a fantastic way to add additional income streams to your service based business. Some of the items you could sell would be eBooks on a variety of topics around your core service.  For example, a mechanic could add a DIY Car Care eBook or video course, an accountant could add a series of eBooks for small businesses to take control of their bookkeeping... the list is endless.
  3. Services:  Service based businesses are also in the business of eCommerce. Your clients find your services online and for the most part will pay you via online means, i.e. eCommerce. Utilising online payment systems streamlines the process of onboarding a client and makes ongoing payments easier to manage.
